A huge study* to be published in this week’s British Medical Journal found that consuming alcohol within current guidelines is associated with lower rates of heart disease (including heart attack, heart failure and angina) and lower rates of stroke.

The Royal College of Physicians advises no more than 21 units per week for men and 14 units per week for women… but also 2-3 alcohol-free days a week to allow the liver time to recover!
